Weihai History

The Weihai history is glorious, according to the within the boundaries ancient civilization ruins archaeological finds textual research, as early as in the Neolithic time intermediate stage, within the boundaries of Weihai has the humanity to live together. Song Dynasty is still along Tang's system, set Dengzhou in the Jiaodong peninsula, Laichau, belong to Jingdong road, now Weihai belong to Dengzhou of Jingdong road. The three year of Yongzheng period (in 1725), three belong to Dengzhou office. The thirteen year of Yongzheng (in 1735) change the Chengshanwei to Rongcheng county. In the Weihaiwei city still had jurisdiction by Wendeng County. In 1914, the Yuan Shikai regime sets at the JIaodongdao, Wendeng, Rongcheng two counties and now Rushan belong to Donghaidao. In 1928 waste Dao, gets the county by the province. In October, 1930, China took back Weihaiwei. After 1934, subordinate to LuDong area, seventh administrative area, Lu the field headquarters. In 1940 Rongcheng, Wendeng are liberated, is the Shandong Province Jiaodong administrative area. In 1941, was the East China Sea special area. In August, 1945, Weihaiwei liberated, set up the Weihaiwei city (special level), subordinated to the Jiaodong administrative area, in 1948, changed to the county level city, belong to special area of Donghai. From 1950 to 1982 subordinate to the Wendeng special area, the Laiyang special area, the Yantai special area, the Yantai area. In 1983 Weihai (now Huancui area) changes the province to govern the county level city, agent by Yantai county to govern, Wendeng, Rongcheng, Rushan 3 counties turned over to Yantai to have jurisdiction. In 1987, the Weihai was locally administered level, set up the Huancui area; Yantai's Rongcheng, Wendeng, Rushan three counties turn over to Weihai to have jurisdiction.
